MonicaM325
Are they a good source of post w/o carb?
Moderators Tom Denham Posted June 9, 2014 Moderators Share Posted June 9, 2014 They are a source of carbs, but let me offer some perspective based upon google. The total carbs of a serving of carrots is 6 grams, turnips 8 grams, parsnips 24 grams, sweet potatoes 27 grams, rutabagas 33 grams, and plantains 57 grams. I used to mention carrots and turnips as carb sources, but in comparison I may stop.
MonicaM325
Thanks for the information! I made a carrot/parsnip mash (didn't add any fat) and will see how I feel post WOD with that instead Of sweet potatoes

If I compare 1 cup mashed cooked rutabaga vs 1 cup baked sweet potato I see 21g and 41g carbs respectively. If I choose 1 oz (28 g) cooked rutabaga vs 1 oz (28 g) baked sweet potato I get 2 g carbs and 6 g carbs.
