July 1st Start date

Starting July 1st. Last year I was part of the June group and we all did awesome. I remained Whole30 from May 27th thru December........I started slowly with reintroduction and now am feeling like sh*t because I have brought everything back into my diet. I felt SO MUCH better when I was only eating Whole 30 approved. So, July 1st is my commitment to begin again. Join along with me, the more the merrier and it also keeps us accountable.

Tomorrow is the official start date, but I ate compliant today and will post my meals and hopefully pics to go with.

Today, I had a cup of bulletproof coffee which I love. If you have never tried it, here is the link.

Another good warm drink is Crio Bru, here is that link.

Just to be clear, no butter on a Whole30. You can try clarified butter or ghee instead, in making bulletproof coffee.

It's my second (attempt) of a Whole 30, too. I was in the June 1st group but after a while I fell back into bad habits. While I'm pretty good at meals according to the template (I make it simple but love it and don't feel "deprived" at all!), my most vicious vices are sugarfree gum and coffee in amounts bordering abuse. Might sound ridiculous but it's a real addiction for me and I consume it in quantities that are really harming my health and digestion (it's also expensive *lol*). So, my main focus will be resisting that evil artificially sweetened crap and cutting my coffee consumption to one mug before noon max.

Wishing you all good luck! <3

I started last week but had a chewing gum-did not know you are not allowed it :) Was so annoyed ! The hardest thing for me is to stay away from all the ciders and Pimm's cocktails.  GOOD LUCK to everyone!!!!!

Hooray!  I'm on my second whole 30...thinking maybe longer.  My hubby is deployed, due back September-ish, and would love to get my paleo eating back on track, not to mention the side benefits of slimming down and feeling my best.  Did first whole 30 last August after flirting with Paleo for four years but never giving up dairy (okay, and sugar is hard, too!). I teach school, and unfortunately, May became a bad-habit month, and I threw June in for good measure.  Felt horrible, and am ready to get my tiger blood back!

@Jesspnk4, your meals sound yummy.  I was also compliant today. One thing that helped me when I started a year ago June was the daily emails. They were really encouraging. I kept all mine so I can re-read them as I go along here.

I received good news today from a CT scan that I had over the weekend, so I am happy and relieved. I plan on being successful every day of this Whole30 because I know I will get back to feeling good!!

How did everyone else do today?

@Maria Pal, it was hard for me at first to give up gum, but I haven't had chewing gum since June of last year. It is crazy to think it has been that long.  I don't miss it.

An on the go food that really helps me when I am unable to stop and eat lunch (I am an RN and work 10 hour shifts) are Primal Pacs and Rx Bars.

I'm not gonna log every meal here due to lack of time (but as I said - I feel pretty confident having that down), just report how things went in general and getting/giving mental support here. :)

Yesterday went very well! Brought enough yummy food with me to get through a whole long day of work and after-work roller derby bootcamp sessions and resisted the very strong temptation to buy new gum (aren't they clever to put those mean things to the checkout area, calling for you while you're waiting to pay? *sigh*). Unfortunately, I didn't get a lot of sleep (as I said, looong day...) but managed to not buy any energy drinks or diet coke when I went to buy my favorite jerky and some coconut milk before work. Yay!

Anything canned or "jerkyfied" travels well, too. Or hard-boiled eggs. I recently found that my local supermarket has a new brand of seafood jerky and some flavors are actually compliant! :)

Heya everyone,

doing good here, trying to stay strong.

It's only day three but I must say: it's amazing what a few days of (the absence of) gum / artificial sweeteners can do! I mean, woah, I have a waist? :D

I'm keeping a toothbrush and some minty mouth wash at work for when I get that urge to "feel fresh" (e.g. after lunch) and it helps a lot. Also when I feel like I "need" more coffee in the afternoon, I just go and brush my teeth. Guess I don't want/need that coffee, I mainly just want to get away from the screen, haha.

Without my bags full of candy/licorice that I used to eat "between meals" (read: constantly) at my desk, that mid-afternoon crash coma isn't a thing anymore either. Nice!

@jesspnk4: Your food sounds yummy!

I brought coconutty pumpkin with codfish liver for my lunchbreak today and can't wait to have it! I was surprised to learn that I absolutely love (canned) cod liver! It's only the liver canned in its own fat - one of those little compliant treasures I unexpectedly found in the middle of some crap in my local supermarket, haha.

Hope you're all doing well!

Hmm, I just had my delicious cod liver lunch and realized (in the middle of melt-on-the-tongue creaminess induced bliss) that it's actually really fatty. I checked and the nutrion facts say it's got 8g protein and 33g fat per 100g. Now, I'm not afraid of the good stuff aka fat at all but I wonder if that makes it unfit to be my "main protein" of the meal. Should I "calculate" cod liver as a fat source instead and use something else as my protein?

(Finished off a bag of dried anchovis for dessert, just to be on the "protein safe side" of things ;) )

@Pebbels: I completely understand your addiction to gum, I am also an addict!  That is one of two things I have been craving, along with chocolate milk :)  I love your idea of keeping a toothbrush and mouth wash handy.

I have no idea how to answer your question about the cod liver.  I am just attemping to follow the template while patienly (or not) waiting for a copy of the book from the library :)

I tried going PALEO in May and suffered from severe headaches and constipation.  I didn't realize this was normal and was so freaked out I stopped being strict with my diet.  I am now on Day 3 and only had a slight headache the evening of Day 1!  Hopefully they stay away, but if I do suffer from a few headaches at least I will know why this time around :)
