bpxdomino
Just wondering why Silverbrite is so cheap! I saw it for 3.99 lb at Shop Rite (compared to 7.99-9.99 lb for Sockeye, which I had been buying regularly). I don't usually purchase king salmon. But when it comes to weekly seafood, I typically stick with what I know.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted July 27, 2014 Moderators Share Posted July 27, 2014 Silverbrite is another name used for chum salmon. Different salmon taste a bit different. Some taste better prepared different ways, so you should probably try it and see if you like it. The price is cheap for salmon at all. One way that it might be available so cheap is that it was frozen and has been thawed for sale as fresh now. Whole Foods Market sells "formerly frozen" fish every once in a while. It is logistically a lot easier and cheaper than moving chilled fish to where customers are ready for it.
bpxdomino
Ok I'll give it a try! I wonder if it's already been frozen - probably means you can not freeze it again, right? Otherwise, I'd stock up now while it's so cheap and freeze for later.
