snoodess
I was thinking of making this recipe, primal breakfast casserole, but subbing shredded kohlrabi for turnips. Think that will work? I forget if kohlrabi is more watery than turnips. Since this makes so much I don't want to waste the ingredients. I have some pricey chorizo from the farmer's market I was planning to use in it. Delaine Ross
I have made this casserole before (it is delicious and yes, makes a ton.) I would halve the recipe and try it out. Even with the turnips it was a bit watery. Now that white potatoes aren't off limits in some forms on a Whole30 I would shred those and try them if the kohlrabi doesn't work. Physibeth
Thanks for posting this...I've got a ton of turnips so I might give this a shot!
snoodess
Funny thing is I also had a nice bunch of those Japanese hakurei turnips (very sweet and mild) but I wanted to make this dish with them: scalloped turnips. It was wonderful! I topped it with leftover kalua pig and had a side of sauerkraut as Tom suggested. Delicious for breakfast. I plan on making the kohlrabi version tonight. I'll let you know how it turns out.
