loobylifts
I buy smoked mackerel (mackerel, salt, pepper) and fresh whole fish when they are a good price. Both are wild caught. I was wondering if it is recommended to eat or ditch the fish skin, or is it just personal preference? I haven't been eating it because I read that it is where toxins are stored, but thought I should get an outside opinion. Thanks in advance! jmcbn
I ditch it - I find it a little slimy which grosses me out, but if I buy it fresh & grill it I eat it as it crisps up nicely.Smoking it merely prolongs the shelf life.Personal preference. texasbred
I like it if it's fresh and cooked up crispy.
loobylifts
Thanks! I only eat it if its crispy, otherwise the sliminess grosses me out too. Good to know it won't do any harm though!
