Frustrated

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some help. Everytime I find something that I think will be Whole30 compliant, I find it has a forbidden ingredient. I found coconut milk at the health food store but it had a preservative in it. The organic vegetable broth I use has canola oil in it. And I cannot find good bacon anywhere! I am not much of a cook so I try to keep things simple but flavorful. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hang in there and keep looking.

What preservative was in the coconut milk? Was it in a can? Not all preservatives are disallowed on a Whole30: only those in the rules and additives cheat sheet.

You can make your own veg broth, or keep looking.

Bacon: you might consider skipping it for your Whole30, as it can be tricky to find compliant brands. Some folks use compliant prosciutto instead.

Meanwhile, simple and flavorful recipes abound. Try Mel Joulwan's site. http://meljoulwan.com Hop on a group thread of other folks doing a Whole30 and swap recipes.

You can do this!

I found compliant bacon at costco; if you have access to one, check their Kirkland low sodium bacon. I also found a chicken broth there that is compliant. On my last whole30 a year ago, a local health food store did not have any compliant bacon, but when I looked recently they had some. So as GFChris said, keep looking!

Sometimes too you might need to look into some different stores.

I have one supermarket I have almost ditched as more of their options have loads of additives.

I also thought my local health food store was pretty good, until I did my Whole30 and found nearly everything there had sugar in it.

Where are you located?

What kind of stores do you have?

I have a Redners, Giant, Aldi, and SAMs Club near me.

I'm in Australia and we have Aldi but might not have the same items. I find lots of great European stuff there that's compliant. Italian tomato stuff, olives, artichokes, etc

Anyone have favourites from Redners, Giant, Aldi, and SAMs Club?

What state are you in?
