I’m addicted to sugar, love my wine, and with a stressful job, the recent death of my mom and a daughter who is a difficult person to raise, I have gone to sugar and alcohol to “deal”. Just the other day my red-headed teenager pulled me into an argument and my immediate visceral reaction was to grab a handful of candy corn and shove it into my mouth. I thought about starting a 12-step program— “Hello. My name is Kathryn and I’ve been addicted to sugar since I was three. I knew I was hooked when I was willing to trade a bag of candy from a little neighborhood boy for two matchbox cars.” I already feel like I should wear all black tomorrow. RIP Caribou...
