Elsa
I'm only 4 days into my whole30 and want to make a chicken recipe that involves deglazing with bone broth. Haven't had time to make one up yet, and wonder if there is a clever alternative..... Quick fix for today's dinner... Water and seasoning might be too bland? Cheers
jent103
You might be able to find compliant chicken stock at the grocery store - people seem to have better luck with chicken than beef. If you can, that's what I'd use.
Boykinbaby
if you want a touch of sweetness you could use apple or white grape juice, though those are more white wine subs than broth...
LauraLish
In a pinch I just use water. You won't have the exact depth in flavor, but it passes
anzadel
You can deglaze with vinegar! Red or white wine, or anything really. Maybe not apple cider? Depends on what else is in there.
Guest
I have not been able to find compliant chicken brother (even at TJs and whole foods) but I have had success with a few different veggie broth brands, so I would start there!
jent103
Making your own chicken broth is super easy, if you've never tried it (probably not helpful for an immediate use, but for the future!). There are tons of recipes out there, and I think one in ISWF, but I just dump a chicken carcass, veggie pieces and ends, kosher salt and peppercorns in my slow cooker, cover with water, and let it go for 24 hours or so. Strain and store!
