Mandolin?

I have this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Swissmar-Borner-V-1001-V-Slicer-Mandoline/dp/B0000632QE/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1389549933&sr=1-1&keywords=mandolin

But I see that there's now a newer version:

http://www.amazon.com/Swissmar-Borner-Power-Mandoline-V-7000/dp/B003CN6Q1Y/ref=sr_1_8?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1389549933&sr=1-8&keywords=mandolin

That brand seems to be the highest rated of the less expensive mandolins. I'm sure you could get an all metal one for more, but I haven't had any issues with this one, other than I freak out a little inside each time I use it because it is SO sharp.

I have had an expensive all metal one for 5 years - used it twice and I hate it!  Heavy, hard  to change the blade, hand wash only...I feel like I wasted $100.00.  We cleaned out a friends garage and I found a cheesey plastic one and think it is just dandy...it wast the "as seen on TV" one, still in the box with the plastic wrap on it!

German & Swiss kitchen gear is always great, in my opinion...good purchase, Peace!
