Jenkl
Hi! Rao's Tomato and Basil sauce does NOT list sugar as an ingredient. Yet the nutrition facts list 3 grams of sugar. Is that from the tomatoes? Does this make it compliant or not? THANK YOU!!!!
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted October 19, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 19, 2014 For Whole30 purposes, you're looking at the ingredient list, not the nutrition facts -- so as long as it's not in the ingredient list, you're fine. Yes, the sugar in the nutrition facts is probably from the tomatoes.
Jenkl
Thank you ! That's what I thought, but when you reactor word "sugar," it causes a moment of panic. Happy day!
Delaine Ross
Yep, you're fine. If you had a bag of only carrots (for example) that required a label, it wouldn't have sugar listed as an ingredient but there would be a small amount of natural sugar in the actual food... and that's ok.
