Ryan Mesler
i'm curious as to why legumes are not allowed on the whole30 plan. is it just one of those silly paleo rules or is a legitimate health reason why the good folks at the whole 9 tell us we shouldn't eat them? Derval
If you do a search for the legume manifesto on the main site you'll get all the info.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted August 20, 2012 Moderators Share Posted August 20, 2012 The Whole30 is not a Paleo diet. I sometimes tell people I eat Paleo because it is a simple explanation, but the Whole30 is based upon science and experience and Paleo is based upon history and concept. They have some overlap, but are not the same. So, nothing about the Whole30 is determined by silly Paleo rules. It Starts With Food updates the position on legumes, but the Legume Manifesto from April 2011 remains good - http://whole9life.com/2011/04/legume-manifesto/. Basically, legumes are toxic raw and not completely neutralized when soaked and cooked.
