Eggs at Publix

I buy the Eggland's Best eggs at Publix when my local farmer can't supply me with enough eggs. I assume that Eggland's Best is completely conventional - read cruel - to their chickens, but the eggs seem to be of high quality. I don't trust the marketing pitches on other egg cartons as being true enough to try them.

I like to buy jumbo eggs and bought some of the Publix brand when Eggland's Best were not available. I did not like them. The shells were more fragile and the eggs didn't look as good. I visit my farmer and his chickens every week and know they are raised under ideal conditions. Their eggs look similar on the inside to Egglands's Best. The Publix brand eggs were pale in comparison.

If all you've got is a Publix, everything starts to look like a hammer.  While one star (out of 5) rated for organic practices and animal treatment, Eggland is the best Publix can muster.  If Publix cared, they'd have to charge too much for good eggs to cover their margins.
