Katy
I'm on day 17, and my energy levels have never been lower. I'm eating balanced, complete meals, tons of protein and working out 5 days a week. But I feel like i'm just dragging all day! My work-outs are totally suffering because I can hardly keep my eyes open by the time I get to the gym after work. I'm really hoping this turns around soon, because I had WAY more energy when I was eating gluten! I almost feel like I'm lacking some important vitamin or something. Any ideas? Moderators Tom Denham Posted April 26, 2012 Moderators Share Posted April 26, 2012 Are you eating enough carbohydrates? Working out 5 days per week requires some carbs. Eat at least one sweet potato or some butternut squash every day and see if that helps.
Katy
Yeah, I was actually thinking that might be it. I'm going to try and bump up my carb intake and see how I feel.
JimS
Here's a good post that includes a number of starchy carb sources broken down into portion sizes that equate to 10g of usable carbohydrates. http://paleozonenutrition.com/2012/04/13/paleo-diet-carbohyrate-counter/starch-vegetables-carb-chart/
Megan Claydon
Absolutely add in the starchy carb...this is about clean eating, not low-carbing. Working out 5 days a week means you will need to make an extra effort to ensure you are fueling your body to keep working hard. You are also right around the 2 week mark, trust the program and keep at it. Things should turn around soon! Keep us posted!
