newwhole30er
I'm a bit scared to start with roasted nuts because those, to me, are food-with-no-brakes...I could eat way way more than I need. I'm sure I would use them as a substitute for chips and that sort of thing. But I don't particularly like raw nuts. Do I NEED to eat them for nutrients (like calcium...especially as I'm not eating dairy now...) or are they optional?
GFChris
Nuts are optional on a Whole30 as a fat.In fact, if you choose to eat them, the suggestion is to limit consumption. If you don't like them, don't eat them: simple! And you don't need dairy or nuts to get calcium. Read more here: http://whole9life.com/2012/02/what-about-calcium/
jmcbn
Nope. No need to eat nuts if you don't want to. There are plenty of superior fat sources - avocado, bacon, lard, duck fat, schmaltz, olives, home-made mayo....If nuts might be a problem then leave them out.
