helgadogg
I just made the ranch dressing from the Whole 30 cookbook and it's way to acid for my taste. I followed the recipe which called for 2 tablespoons of red wine vinegar. Do you have any tips for me to make the dressing less acidic so I can enjoy better this cup of dressing I just made? :-) Also a little bit proud of my first home made mayo, success in first try! Administrators ladyshanny Posted September 8, 2015 Administrators Share Posted September 8, 2015 I'm not familiar with the recipe but can you add more mayo to it? Or did you turn your whole batch of mayo into the dressing? If so, make another batch of just plain mayo and add some of that.

SpinSpin
I put full fat coconut milk into my ranch (I am not familiar with that recipe -- i modify a recipe I found on Food Network) -- mayo, lemon juice or apple cider vinegar, garlic, green onion, dill, salt, pepper, and I use the coconut milk in place of the buttermilk that is usually in ranch. It is pretty good and not coconutty if that is an issue. I also make it to taste, so I don't have a real recipe with amounts. ANYWAY that was a long winded post on maybe add some coconut milk to your dressing and chill it till it thickens up? The extra fat might calm down the tartness. Rebe_J
I have added a splash of apple juice to flatten an acid-y flavor a bit. I don't know how it would affect the flavor of ranch dressing. I think the coconut milk suggestion would work.
