jhcowan
Almost everything I have read says to eat 5-6 small meals per day to keep your metabolism revved up, which I had always followed until starting my Whole30. I would usually be HUNGRY about every 3 hours, then eat again. However, now, I have been eating 3 meals with an occasional afternoon snack and have not felt hungry between meals for the past week (I am on Day 28). Am I destroying my metabolism (again) or am I becoming fat adapted? It seems like I can eat less per meal too. Anyone else?
Robin Strathdee
Fat adaptation! Eating lots of little meals to stoke your metabolism is definitely a myth. It will make you dependent on food every couple of hours (most especially carbs) just to function. Your hormones need time to process what you've eaten, calm down and then release stored energy (body fat) before you eat again and 3-4 meals a day does the trick. KateF
I've been surprised to not be hungry every 2-3 hours like I used to be. And, if I am a little hungry between meals, I let myself have something because I know that overall, I am on track.
