GrandmaJennifer
Can I have Organika brand Coconut Sauce? The ingredients are: organic coconut sap, sea salt. The nutrition facts show sugar but not in the ingredients list. http://organika.com/product/foods/coconut-sauce/ Thank you.
Zyriel
Nutrition Facts are a break-down of the macro and micro nutrients the food is made up of. Carbohydrates (sugar/fiber), Fat, Protein are the macro nutrients the food is composed of. The Ingredients is what you want to look at. These are the foods that go into the container, they are the contents.
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted March 2, 2016 Moderators Share Posted March 2, 2016 Coconut sap is sugar for the purposes of the Whole30 and thus, this product is not allowed. Edit: I see that this is a 'coconut amino' type product. You want to find out from the manufacturer if this is fermented or not. If it is, then the sugar will get eaten up in the fermentation process and it would be allowable. If it is not fermented, then it's a no go. GrandmaJennifer
Thanks SugarcubeOD for the info. I emailed Organika to ask if the coconut sap is fermented or not. They have not replied. I won't be using this sauce unless I get confirmation that its Whole 30 compliant. Thanks again
GrandmaJennifer
So I received an email back from Organika stating that the coconut sap in this sauce is definitely fermented :-)
