NeedAllTheFries
I honestly thought reintroducing legumes would be a breeze. I'm now on day 4 of reintro, which was scheduled to be my non-gluten grains day, but I've pushed that back in order to feel better after legume day. Day 1 I had a little bit of peanut butter on an apple with my normal W30 breakfast; a scoop of hummus in my side salad at lunch; and bean and cauli-rice bowls at dinner. It was about a half can of black beans, and I'm leaning toward believe that's what did me in. Day 2 I felt okay, but day 3 is when it hit. All day long I had a stomachache and felt nauseated. I thought it could have been due to PMS (because I have experienced nausea during PMS before, not often, but it's happened), but when it lasted all day I knew it had to be the legumes. The odd part was the increase in mucus in my throat - the post nasal drip definitely doesn't seem related to PMS, but I've heard that legumes are high mucus-producing foods. Come to think of it, I used to need tissues all the time before W30, and it wasn't until yesterday that I realized I'd run out and hadn't bought more because I didn't need them as often. It's continued to today, day 4. My stomach continues making gurgling sounds and it just feels icky. Every once and awhile I get a wave of nausea, but it's mainly the stomach ache. I did not have a BM yesterday or the day before, but I did today and it seemed to be normal, so hopefully this is moving through my system. I plan to eventually re-test hummus because I do enjoy it from time to time, but if this is how legumes affect my body, I plan to avoid them as much as possible. I'm honestly surprised by this reaction! Has anyone else had surprisingly strong reactions to legumes?
