I Needed a Protein Break

Recommended Posts

I felt the need to take a break from so much protein yesterday - - so I did.

Vegetable soup for breakfast,

Big salad for lunch,

cooked veggies which included an almond cauliflower with coconut flakes item.

It felt good.

Back on track today.

:)

Anyone else have this happen?

What prompted your desire to take a break from animal protein?  Texture? Taste? Ethical reasons?  Other? Folks might be able to help you with this challenge, if we know what the hurdles are for you.

GFChris, I don't know.

I just did not want any protein that day.

Just the thought of it made me feel heavy, and I wanted to lighten up my food that day.

And so I did.

I did not see this as a "challenge" or a problem; just a curiosity.

It was only one day.

Every day is important though when trying to build new habits, hence the Whole30 advice to eat some of all the items in a template meal (eat around the plate) even if you have to save the rest for later.

I have to say, some days I feel like the protein can bog me down a bit... I TOTALLY get where you're coming from.  I just... don't really want it sometimes.  I'm on my third round now and it's happened a couple times.  What I do is I have lighter proteins such as fish-chicken-eggs.  I really don't have red meat all too often as it is, but I know I should to vary the types of micronutrients I'm getting, so I have it a couple days a week.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that you're not alone.  I still force myself to eat protein, even if I don't really feel like it, because otherwise I get the hangry-monster on my back without it!
