Contradiction
Hi everyone, Doing my first Whole30 starting today and I'm still trying to get my bearings here with everything. There's a Chili Spice mix that I really like and I've used it for years to make chili but it sounds like it's borderline compliant. The reason I say that is because it has cocoa powder listed as an ingredent. I know that as a less than 100% cocoa powder isn't allowed, and that it shouldn't be used as a "treat" to sweeten something up. However in this context, which is a "Cincinati Style Chili" with cocoa, cinammon, and nutmeg, as a flavor component does this seem acceptable? Here's a link to the label:Penzeys Spices Chili 9000 I can live without it, but I really like the spice mix and I'd find it easier then trying to figure out my own mixture of spices. What do you all think?
jmcbn
This is fine. Mel Joulwan's Chocolate Chilli (also made with cocoa powder, not chocolate) is very popular around these parts and this is no different - enjoy!
Contradiction
Great! I could have lived without it, but this certainly makes it easier. There's a certain amount of "magic" to getting chili spices right, and it probably would have been kind of bland to me if I had just picked out 3 or 4. Thanks for your reply!
