LizaQ
I have some ground turkey and ground pork. I want to make sausages but I don't have enough of either. Would it be weird to combine them? I have combined beef/veal/pork but never poultry.
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted April 6, 2018 Moderators Share Posted April 6, 2018 I don't see why you couldn't. I just did a quick google of turkey-pork meatballs and there are recipes that combine them, so someone out there thinks it's a good combo.
LizaQ
I googled turkey pork sausages (see - I looked before asking!) and didn't find any but didn't think to look for meatballs. Thanks!
Jorfdan
Definitely do it! Turkey tends to be much leaner and can be very dry when cooked. I find mixing equal parts pork and turkey give a better moisture and flavor ratio for things like meatballs, patties, etc. And as others have noted, there are quite a few good recipes requiring the mixing of them.
