AlyssaB
Hi! I'm on day 7 of my Whole30 and I've been trying to be super diligent about avoiding non-compliant ingredients and additives. Yesterday, without thinking about it, I brewed myself a cup of Celestial Seasonings' honey lemon ginseng tea, as it's my favorite of theirs. As I never drink my tea with sugar/honey/added sweeteners, I didn't think about the possibility of it being non-compliant - until I brewed another cup this morning to bring to work and thought about the name...."honey" lemon ginseng. Looked it up and here are the ingredients: Green tea, white tea, eleuthero, natural lemon and honey flavors with other natural flavors, licorice, lemon verbena, roasted chicory, ginger, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), orange blossoms, honey and Asian ginseng. Should I dump the cup of tea I brewed and restart my Whole30?
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted January 14, 2020 Moderators Share Posted January 14, 2020 It does contain honey, so it is not allowed on whole30, so you definitely should not drink any more of it. As for whether to start over, that is up to you. Here's an article with some guidance about that: https://whole30.com/start-over/
