jill011
I have seen several products that do not list sugar in the ingredients (salsa, tomato sauce, etc..) but have grams of sugar in the nutritional facts...are these ok on Whole30? I assume the grams of sugar are naturally occurring?
Moderators Tom Denham Posted March 4, 2013 Moderators Share Posted March 4, 2013 Yep. If the sugar is listed as an ingredient, it has been added. If it appears in the nutritional facts, it comes with the veggie, fruit, etc. Only added sugar is off plan during a Whole30.
Janine Costanzo
I've run into the opposite as well: the ingredient list has sugar in it, but the nutritional facts say 0g of sugar (this was on some fish sauce). My best guess for that is that there's less than 1g of sugar per serving, so they don't have to list it in the nutritional facts. So be sure to check the ingredients list just in case!
