  1. Kirkor- Correct, the new reintroduction schedule is phrased in terms of least to most likely to cause issues. BUT, order can change based on personal context and preferences. If you have a preferred order, or want to skip foods on our list, please feel free. Our schedule is our best recommendation, but variation is not a deal breaker.

  2. This is one of those cases where you can't believe everything you read on the interwebs. Chemistry is complicated and while some manufactured foods and natural foods share similar chemical compounds, they don't all interact with our bodies in the same way.  For the purposes of Whole30, simply avoid "MSG"  - no outside reading material necessary :)

  3. This is a list of the most commonly used acronyms on the forum. If you see one we're missing, you can note it below and a moderator will update the list.

    W30: Whole30

    SAD: Standard American Diet
This is the diet that typifies the western attitude toward food - processed foods, low fat, "sugar free", food-like products, fast food...

SWYPO: Formerly called Sex With Your Pants On, terminology has now been replaced with "The Pancake Rule"
Pancakes, cookies, muffins and other paleofied junk foods that are never as satisfying as the real thing and often lead down the slippery slope to "real" junk food.

    ISWF: It Starts With Food
Best-selling book by the creators of the Whole30 program that details both the ins and outs of the Whole30 program AND the science behind their many recommendations.

    WOD: Workout of the Day
Primarily CrossFit terminology used to refer to the assigned group workout of the day. Many folks around here use it to describe their daily workout, CrossFit or not.

    Pre-wo: Pre-Workout/ Post-wo: Post-Workout
Generally used in reference to what foods are best to eat before and after a workout

    AIP: Autoimmune Protocol
This is a reference to the autoimmune protocol – a larger and more specific set of dietary restrictions for those suffering from autoimmune conditions.

    FODMAP
We won't worry about the sciency words the acronym stands for. These foods are easily broken down by certain bacteria in the gut and can cause digestive troubles for some folks.

MDA: Mark's Daily Apple.  ~ A good go-to if you can't find the info you need here or on our site

BP Coffee: Bulletproof Coffee ~ A coffee drink made with ghee and coconut oil, blended in a blender or with an immersion blender.

NSV: Non-Scale Victory - like clearer skin, better sleep, less joint pain, clothes fitting better -- anything other than the number on the scale

    JERF: Just Eat Real Food

FWOB: Foods without brakes ~ less healthy foods you can't seem to stop once you start

    ACV: apple cider vinegar

    EVOO: extra virgin olive oil

  4. Does anyone know what "occasional fruit" means in the guidelines? I'm on Day 4 and have been searching the forums - but haven't found the answer I'm looking for. The program guideline of "x protein, plus x vegetable" per meal makes sense to me - but does occasional fruit mean: Once per day? Once per week? Twice per week? With all of the talk about the "sugar dragon" I just don't want to overconsume fruit in my Whole30 process. Thanks much! :-D

1-2 servings of fruit per day is perfectly reasonable :)

  5. Jtandi and wheresanita -

I am SO GLAD to hear that you guys did what you needed to do to make it through those times. That kind of adaptive thinking and stick-to-it-iveness are evidence of the mindset that gets many first-timers (and even some of us vets) through the rocky first stages. Eventually, you'll get things nailed down. You'll understand your context more and more each day, and planning and preparing will become second nature.

Amy, Susan, Sharon, Kirsteen, Renee (hey, how do I get your fancy accent to type on here?!), and smacd -

Thank you for your kind words and for understanding the intent of my post. I really think we've got the best community out there on the interwebs.

  6. Hi friends!

The fabulous Renee, moderator extraordinaire, has brought to our attention that there are several post Whole30 logs hanging out in this topic. We LOVE that you're keeping logs, and we wanted to give you guys your own section to do just that! So, there's now a section in the Community area of the forum for your Post W30 logs! Don't be surprised, or offended, if you find your log moved over there in the next few days. We're just working to keep things as organized as possible for all of you :0)
