ExAstrisScientia
Hey all, I have a package of chorizo sausage links that I bought from our dairy farmer (and no, I'm not drinking the milk, but my kids are). When I got them home, I noticed the ingredients: Pork, water, chili pepper, salt, spices, garlic powder, spice extratives. The last ingredient has me suspicious... I have read that some companies will use that term to mask added MSG - is that true? If so, it's a bit of a bummer that a small farmer would do the same (although the sausages were not made by the dairy farmer himself, but another small farmer he does business with). Basically I'm just wondering if I can eat these, or if I should leave them in the freezer.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted August 23, 2013 Moderators Share Posted August 23, 2013 I have seen spice extratives listed along with MSG, so it is not necessarily a subterfuge for MSG. I would probably eat the pork, considering that it came from a small farmer.
