drtracyb
Does anyone cook Well Fed's chocolate chili in the crock pot? Do you saute veggies and meat and then move into the crock pot or can you just throw everything in?
lujo238
I sautéed meat and veggies then moved them to the crock pot to finish.
AmyS
I do too. I don't have the patience to watch a simmering pot on the stove. Also, I think it tastes better when cooked in the crock pot.
puppypower
Sauteing the onions and browning the meat first removes a good amount of the water, which intensifies the flavour. I do this first using the saute function on my pressure cooker, and then finish the recipe using the slow cooker function.

kirkor
Can someone post a whole30 compliant beef broth? Beef is a lot harder to find than chicken, unfortunately. Some people have found some at Costco, but YMMV. http://forum.whole9life.com/topic/16940-is-there-a-compliant-store-bought-broth/
LivelyLady
I've been interested in this recipe but find the lack of veggies in it a turn off. Do you guys serve it with any veggies on the side, or add some or anything? Maybe spinach and bell peppers. I love meat but it just seems like it's pure meat. Ha. I make a similarly-styled beef stew but use mashed cauliflower to thicken it and carrots/celery/spinach for added veggies. The chocolate/beef combo is so good. You can add veggies to it if you like it that way. I serve mine over heaping mounds of wilted dark leafy greens and roasted cubed sweet potatoes.
