Momof1plus2
I completed the Whole30 last month and am pretty much still following it since I honestly have no interest in sugar, wheat, peanuts, milk etc. However... In a weak moment today I had ONE if my kids Welch's fruit snack gummies. They are gluten free but have both corn syrup and sugar listed as ingredients. I had explosive and painful d for about two hours today, about four hours after. Would such a tiny piece of food cause such a violent reaction or should I evaluate other possibilities? I do not have a virus because I'm already feeling better. It was like a bad gluten or IBS type attack.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted August 25, 2014 Moderators Share Posted August 25, 2014 I would not think that corn syrup would cause diarrhea unless you were swigging it from the bottle. I wonder if something else invaded your body.
Deb.
If you had not reintroduced corn prior to this, is it possibly a reaction to corn? There are tons of chemicals in those too including the evil Red 40 http://www.eatingwell.com/food_news_origins/food_news/the_hidden_health_risks_of_food_dyes You could be reacting to any one of them
Momof1plus2
I have had corn Chex so I'm thinking I'm OK with corn. Other than that all I ate was my regular eggs, sweet potato, lettuce, chicken, strawberries, tomato, olive oil and coconut vinegar..
Momof1plus2
The gummy I ate was purple if that matters lol. Maybe it was bad lettuce or something like that.
Momof1plus2
I think I figured it out and totally not Whole30 related.... I believe that the eggs/sweet potatoes may have sat out too long - almost three hours.... I had an early allergist appt and hubby left breakfast sitting out while I was gone... Corn syrup is evil though lol. Thanks for your help
