LisaLulu
I bought a bottle of virgin palm oil at costco and it smells awful. I couldn't even use it. Is it supposed to smell horrid? Does it taste ok once you cook with it/add other flavors? I'm scared to waste food using it in case it's too gross to eat. It's the orange stuff... It's a huge jar too... ugh. MeadowLily
It sounds like it might be rancid. They will probably give your money back if you have the ticket, and maybe without it. Find another brand, like EV Coconut Oil instead of the palm. It should not taste horrible. You might need to go to a health food store.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted September 4, 2014 Moderators Share Posted September 4, 2014 I've never tried palm oil, but hear it is stronger than many other oils and not appreciated by as wide a cross section of people. And as MeadowLily suggests, it might be spoiled.
LisaLulu
Good idea, I think I'll return it. It was a lot of money and costco has a great return policy. I can't stomach using it at all, I'll stick to coconut, olive and avocado oil, my trinity of fat
