ambnille07
I'm trying to gather bones for broth. In addition to making a trip to a butcher for some, I'm also saving whatever bones are leftover from my meals (this week: pork ribs). How should I store these until I'm ready to use them for broth? Refrigerate? Freeze?
Teresa Savino
If you won't be using them within the next few days, I would freeze them.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted January 11, 2015 Moderators Share Posted January 11, 2015 I use a one gallon, ziploc freezer bag to collect bones in my freezer. When it is full, I make a pot of bone broth.
praxisproject
Chicken wings are great, any bones with joints are great I keep mine in ziploc bags in the freezer too. Cooked or raw. If you don't get a lot of bones, after you've made your first batch, keep the bones and re-freeze them to use again.
JJtraveler
I have a friend who keeps a bag going (or maybe it's a drawer in the side-by-side style freezer?) and just tosses in stuff for broth... veggie ends, bones, etc. I think she does veg broth as well as a good bone broth that way. just save the stuff up until there's enough and then cook it. and I agree with Praxisproject. you can definitely make more than 1 batch of broth from a set of bones!
