Brittle nails

I'm on day 28 (can't believe it?!) and for the last week I've noticed that my nails have become very weak and brittle. Half the top of my thumb nail basically fell off the other day - this is not normal for me at all!

 

Could I be lacking in certain minerals? How do I get my normal strong & healthy nails back?

I scanned your food log and don't think you are missing any vitamins or minerals to explain weak and brittle nails. Biotin is frequently recommended for stronger nails, but the evidence suggests almost no one is missing enough for that to be a problem. I read several articles on the topic and found this one to be most helpful in understanding the problem...
