breezyb
Hello! Quick question on reading labels and ingredients. I have a jar of mixed peppers & tomatoes. The ingredient list is: peppers, crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, salt, vinegar, olive oil & spices. When looking at the Nutrition label, it says there is 1g of Sugar and 3g carbohydrates. If all ingredients appear to be "compliant", but there is a gram of sugar, is this item off limits?
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted August 7, 2015 Moderators Share Posted August 7, 2015 The ingredient list is the boss on Whole 30 so if there is no sugar listed, then you're fine. Lots of foods have inherent sugar in them and that's okay, we just don't allow ADDED sugar. The jar of mixed peppers/tomatoes is good to go! Moderators ShannonM816 Posted August 7, 2015 Moderators Share Posted August 7, 2015 This should be fine. Many foods contain naturally occurring sugars, those are fine. If there's added sugar or other sweeteners in the ingredients list, then it's off limits for whole30.
