WildKitty
Hello I am new to the whole30, just going to start and I wanted to know if the following ingredients are allowed (I searched and found nothing on them) Sodium Acid Pyrophoshate Calcium Disodium EDTA Citric Acid Sodium Metabisulphite Also is there alist anywhere of the prohibited "chemically named" ingredients that I can look at? or a guide on how to read labels? thank you in advance
homerfrizzell
WildKitty, I don't know of a W30 guide to food additives. You can search at the top level of the forum for each one to see if it has come up before. Another thing to do would be to plug each of them into Wikipedia or Google to see what comes up. From searching the forum, Citric Acid seems OK. I'm leery of the others - one is a disinfectant/preservative.... I'd look for other options. Robin Strathdee
The three "additives" that are strictly prohibited are: carageenan, MSG (monosodium glutamate), and added sulfites (potassium metabisulphite falls in here). Our downloadable guide to sneaky sugars can be downloaded here (about halfway down the page): http://whole9life.com/itstartswithfood
WildKitty
Thanks so much!!! Guess anything that ends in "sulfite" is a NO!
