Maddy A.
Can I throw cocoa nibs into my homemade trail mix? (Nuts and whole30 compliant dried fruit) for emergency situations and travel? Also can we make our own fruit/nut bars for travel? Hard to find whole30 compliant ones.
Administrators ladyshanny Posted January 15, 2016 Administrators Share Posted January 15, 2016 Nuts and dried fruit are, quite honestly, a terrible emergency food. They are hand to mouth, hard to stop and will hit all your sweets/salty-munchy receptors. Throwing cocoa nibs in it is just making that worse. Not to mention that nuts are pretty hard on the digestive system for a lot of people. And dried fruits are as close to candy as you can get on the Whole30. If you are doing the Whole30 to heal your relationship with food or kill a sugar addiction or control cravings, step away from the homemade trail mix and fruit/nut bars.
