Tsoff16
Whole Foods sells Wellshire Sugar Free Dry Rubbed bacon. It says "paleo" approved. I'm wary, as I know sugar may be used in the processing... can't always trust labels. Is this particular brand and type of bacon approved? thank you! JulieP757
If the ingredients list doesn't list sugar - or other non-compliant ingredients - the bacon is compliant.
Tsoff16
That's not accurate based on anything I've read about Whole 30 bacon (or whole 30 in general) - zero grams of sugar does not mean that there was no sugar added in the brining process or that there are not other forms of sugar in the ingredients. Bacon in particular is brined in sugar yet the nutrition label almost always says zero. Whole30 "approves" two brands at the below link, but I'm wondering if Wellshire Farms "Sugar Free" is also Whole 30 approved. Thanks! http://whole30.com/2012/03/whole30-approved-bacon-is-here/
slc_melissa
Be careful with your terms. Whole30 approved? No. Whole30 compliant? Maybe. But since you won't list the ingredients, we can't tell you. Whole30 approved is a specific term they give to specific brands: http://whole30.com/whole30-approved/ All Whole30 approved brands are compliant, but not all compliant products are officially "approved." You also appear to be confusing the ingredient list with the nutrition info. The poster above said to look at the ingredients, you answered by looking at the nutrition label. What is the ingredient list for the product?
Tsoff16
Thank you - I didn't understand the difference between compliant and approved. I'll go back to the store and list the ingredients but this makes a lot more sense now - I thought there were literally 2 compliant bacons because of the 2 "approved" brands.
