When is tea allowed?

Recommended Posts

The books say that you can drink tea to replace a ritual glass of wine in the evening or if you're watching TV and would normally snack on chips. However, is it acceptable to satisfy sugar cravings with a compliant hot tea? Or will that continue to train my brain to reach for sweets post-Whole30? Do the same cautionary notes that come with fruit also come with tea?

Tea, as long as compliant should not bother your sugar dragon... of course for some, if it's a sweeter tea made with dried fruit or more fragrant tea, it might be a problem, but that's a 'know your own context' thing.  For the majority, tea would be fine for a sugar dragon... our suggestion is no caffeine after noon tho, so try and drink the herbal teas at night.

Thank you so much! I'm guessing that's because something like rooibos tea has no calories and therefore no natural sugar that would trigger the dragon?

Correct.  Sugar dragon can also sometimes be triggered by hand to mouth mindless snacking but drinking a compliant cup of tea is a good distraction technique, can change your mood and is great for additional hydration so you can't really go wrong.
