Concern about elevated triglycerides after 3 months

We've been doing the whole30 for three months. right before we began I had a physical and my blood work was great. I take a statin and I still do (though I am hoping that with the whole 30 i can eventually get off it). My biggest issue has always been low HDL (the good cholesterol) and the ratio of good to bad being too great. So I had a blood test done last week, and my triglycerides more than doubled from 79 to 164, and that is ON a statin. And my HDL dropped. Everything else was ok. My other half had much better results than before we started, I have lost about 15 pounds, i generally feel better, and some chronic issues (like acid reflux) have diminished tremendously, so I plan to remain eating this way (at home we are 100 percent whole30, and try our best when out, having learned that one indulgent meal makes us feel hung over the next day). I have read that the number changes could be related to the body burning fat. My questions are what do I tell my doctor if he freaks about the numbers? Should I be concerned or was this too soon to do blood work? Could the eggs and clarified butter be the culprit (I eat eggs way more than my other half who did not have this problem)?

Any thoughts appreciated.

You should probably start doing a little research about this, so you can decide for yourself how worried you ought to be. Here are a couple of articles to get you started, you can follow links or google things that they mention to get more:  https://www.marksdailyapple.com/why-did-my-cholesterol-go-up-after-going-primal/https://www.marksdailyapple.com/how-to-interpret-cholesterol-test-results/https://thepaleodiet.com/qa-cardiovascular-health-and-cholesterol/,   https://thepaleodiet.com/yes-eggs-are-high-in-cholesterol-but-why-should-we-care/

Obviously I'm not a doctor, no one here on the forum is qualified to give you medical advice. This is something you'll want to talk about with your doctor, if he is concerned. Do be sure to tell him how much better you're feeling in general, and stress that you want to continue feeling good, so that whatever solution the two of you come up with is something you both can live with.

Thank you. I suppose that since the only problem is the high triglycerides i should wait until my next blood test since I am still losing weight. this was informative about ratios.

I haven't read the articles that Shannon linked above so they may have mentioned it in there, but one interesting thing is that when you are losing weight, the cholesterol that is stored in your fat cells is temporarily mobilized into your blood stream. So as long as you are losing fat, your cholesterol readings could go up.
