Acer75
Whole 30 approved or acceptable Cold cuts? I sure miss having a few slices of smoked turkey but the nitrites/nitrates are something I want to avoid. Other than buying a whole turkey and smoking it myself and then trying to slice it up thin enough (the thin deli slice is part of the appeal of cold cuts, you have to admit) , are there any products on the market? I have not found any. Thanks ya'll!
annnewjerz
Applegate Farms makes a compliant roast beef. Not sure where you could find it --- but they have a product locator on their website. None by me, unfortunately --- but maybe you'll have better luck!
EmilyB456
Nitrates and nitrites are technically okay on the Whole30. However, most packaged deli meats have carageenan in them, and that's a big no-no. You just have to read your labels, for the most part. Applegate Farms does have some compliant lunchmeats, but they are at the deli counter, not what you buy next door to the bacon. During my Whole30, any time I wanted lunch meat, I bought prosciutto. For some reason, it's pretty easy to find with just pork and salt as the ingredients! And YUM.
praxisproject
Outside of prosciutto, I couldn't find anything without wheat, corn or sugar. However you can always cook your own meat and slice it.
Michaela Elmore Cogswell
You may want to rethink your concern about nitrites/nitrates. http://chriskresser.com/the-nitrate-and-nitrite-myth-another-reason-not-to-fear-bacon
1Maryann
I think Boar's Head has a few options. Most delis that stock it also have their nutritional pamphlets that state all ingredients and anything else you want to know.
