mharting
Hi, So... before I started the Whole 30, my digestive system was extremely regular on my almost-strict paleo diet (some dairy like cheese/yogurt) but in the last couple of weeks (I'm on day 20!) I've been going a day or two without going to the bathroom. I eat PLENTY of vegetables and still have my black coffee in the mornings, but it isn't working like it used to. I've had to drink a cup of "smooth move" tea at night a few times in the last couple of weeks to get things going. Usually, I have chia seed pudding and coconut-flour muffins/tortillas during the week, but I haven't been eating them since they are SWYPO foods. Anyone experienced any problems like this? I turn into a cranky person when I bloat up and have stomach cramps! Link to comment
GFChris
Have you tried digestive enzymes or fermented foods (e.g., kimchi, kombucha, sauerkraut)? You might want to take a look at this thread for some ideas: http://forum.whole9life.com/topic/7056-constipation-a-bit-long-but-please-read-if-you-can-help/ Link to comment
cayenne
I would recommend the digestive enzymes as well. I also add the Magnesium drink-Natures calm??? and that seems to help. Yeah, it is funny, isn't it to eat al these veggies and get constipated! Don't know why that is but it seems to be a consistant "thread" Link to comment
mharting
I did start adding sauerkraut to my salads/sides. What brand of digestive enzymes do you recommend? Natures calm- is that a powder you can add to water? Link to comment
GFChris
The product is called Natural Calm. You want to be sure you get the unsweetened version, which is Whole30 compliant. And yes, it's a powder. Amazon sells it: http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Vitality-Magnesium-Calm-1x16/dp/B000GJOZWE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390148282&sr=8-1&keywords=natural+calm+unsweetened Link to comment
AllyB
Has anyone had success adding a certain veggie with more fiber to help? I've been trying to eat more lettuce but that isn't helping. Is there another veggie? Link to comment
Lorrie555
I have used Calm in the past and it worked right away. This time it is not working as consistently. I am wondering if I am not drinking enough water? Link to comment
Macadame
Hi mharting, I feel your pain. This helps me... 1. Get whole flax seeds. 2. Grind them in a coffee grinder. 3. Sprinkle 1 to 2 tablespoons on one meal such as Breakfast or maybe DInner or both. They have a kinda nutty pleasant taste. Hope this helps Link to comment
