gaellou
In the only smoked salmon I could find without sugar, the label indicates that fish has been fed with phaffia yeast for the color... is it okay or not?

EatTrainClean
Interesting info about phaffia yeast (which is a color additive) and the effect when fed to fish. "Effect of astaxanthin rich red yeast (Phaffia rhodozyma) on oxidative stress in rainbow trout." Furthermore, the serum lipid (triglycerides, total cholesterol and phospholipids) concentrations were also significantly decreased. Obviously this shouldn't effect the fatty acid profile of the fish, since the yeast was presumably added AFTER the fish was caught...but interesting nonetheless.
