Lora Friedenthal Posted July 31, 2012 Share Posted July 31, 2012 I know dates are used as a sugar substitute. But we're not entirely not having sugars, since we're allowed to have fruit. So where does addign dates to a recipe fall? I wanted to make currywurst sauce, which is basicaly ketchup with curry powder. So I made a paleo ketchup with tomato paste, water, vinegar, and spices, then added the curry powder. But something still tasted empty about it, so I tossed in two dates. Besides, dates seem like the same thing as raisins and other dried fruit, which we can have as long it doesn't have added sugar, right? Right!
