KRCMommy
Although I love to cook, I have never tried short ribs. They always seemed too hard. I picked some up from the local farm today, though, to be adventurous Does anyone have a favorite recipe? Thanks!!!
Moderators LadyM Posted March 25, 2014 Moderators Share Posted March 25, 2014 I have these in the crockpot right now. It's hands down one of my all-time faves. I'd never made short ribs before, either. Trust me, though. You will not regret making these!
jent103
I was going to say the same recipe LadyM did! This one also sounds good, though I haven't made it yet. http://www.theclothesmakethegirl.com/2013/10/03/wf2-thyme-braised-short-ribs/

Moderators LadyM Posted March 25, 2014 Moderators Share Posted March 25, 2014 I haven't made a recipe of Melissa Joulwan's yet that wasn't spectacular. I'm sure that one's delicious. Just depends on what flavor profile you're after. But short ribs in general are just so damn good! Enjoy!
AllyB
I've made Melissa's ribs multiple times. They are fantastic. One modification I do is to make my own beef broth out of grassfed bones first and use that as my stock. CRAZY good! When you pull the meat off the bones, be ready to leave the non-edible parts behind. There will be a lot of waste. But the connective tissue is kind of slimy and tough. Also, try not to make these when you're really hungry. You end up eating a lot while pulling it off the bones
Chapin
However, if you have dogs -- they go crazy for the connective tissue!
KRCMommy
That's so funny! I didn't even know there were bones in there...I bought them frozen from our local farm. They are defrosting the fridge right now. Can't wait to make them. And...we have 2 dogs who will love the waste
