Day 147 - beautiful morning and it's going to be warm which means sun and exercise! Tummy is back to normal. Stir fry for brekky, platter for late lunch and a few nibbles before heading out to a comedy show where I laughed so hard the tears were streaming and my cheeks aching. Good for the soul!

Today will also be prep for my trip tomorrow and a little roast lamb for dins.

Day 148 - yesterday's highlight was an hour of intense table tennis which was unexpected and most awesome. I cleaned up too which never hurts (not that I'm competitive or anything... :)) Food was a late brunch stir-fry, a handful of nuts, and then a mini lamb roast with potatoes and salad. Perfect. Feeling clean.

Today I'm off to Surfer Paradise for a customer conference. I'm armed with two cans of sardines, boardshorts & speedos, trainers & running gear, figs and chamomile tea. In amongst talking to as many people as possible, avoiding crap food & alcohol and working long hours, I fully intend to make use of the hotel pool, the esplanade along the beach and the surf. Let's hope there is some!

Day 149 - up on the Gold Coast and the conference hasn't been very well organised which means I have a lot more "free" time than what I expected. So I've taken full advantage - ran 5k's yesterday afternoon - it was pretty warm and my first run for 8 days so I took it relatively easy. My back held up well. This morning I ran 3.7k's. Given it was about 5:30am, the temperature was perfect and I hammered it (well, in my own slow way :)). I finished off with a surf which took me back to when I was 18 and running and body surfing each morning. Talk about leading the life!!

Food yesterday was a stir-fry before jumping on the plane, a late lunch of chicken & salad at the conference venue, then I found a greek grill & salad for dinner plus a couple of handfuls of dried fruit & nuts which I bought at a local supermarket. Add in a banana & an apple plus a few teas and I had a good clean day.

This morning I've demolished 3 eggs, mushrooms, tomato + fruit and I'm ready to hit the conference. God help anyone who comes into my talking field because I'm on fire and they won't leave without a thorough ear bashing :D

Day 150 - what a milestone! Tore up my standard 3.75k run along the foreshore this morning - the shorter distance is good because I can push it far more than I have been - trying to get some speed in the legs. Took 14 secs off my time from yesterday. Then caught a couple of waves and obliterated my breakfast of eggs, mushies, toms, fruit and black coffee.

Yesterday I found a grilled barramundi & salad for lunch, had a mini meal of a tin of sardines plus dried fruit/seed/nut mix, then ate a late dinner with clients - kingfish sashimi, a steak + salad, and fruit salad. All good clean stuff.

I've only had 5 hours sleep (can't sleep when I'm away for work, plus it's light at 5am) so I'll be running on empty later this arvo I suspect. Will need to keep my food intake up although the choices are severely limited. I'll try to do an emergency stock up if I can find a supermarket - I'm thinking avocado & sardines.

What I actually need is a big feed of dense carbs - sweet potato/potato/pumpkin etc, but I'm having great trouble locating any of that. I don't have a microwave otherwise I would buy some and cook it myself.

Any suggestions? The only thing I can come up with for on the road appears to be carrots...

I realise the weather is warming up there, but you must celebrate Halloween, right? Everywhere you turn here right now there's pumpkin of some kind, so I'm thinking you might be able to find some pumpkin soup? And you could have some chicken on the side.... Maybe not quite as satisfying as chowing down on sweet potato baked fries, but nice & starchy nonetheless...

Congrats on the 150 by the way!!

Day 151 - thanks J - I sought out a whole foods cafe yesterday and had some sweet potato wedges with various salad combos. Delicious and just what the doctor ordered. Halloween is kinda celebrated in Australia but yeah it doesn't mean there's pumpkin around more than usual :)

I ate a late room service dinner last night which didn't turn out too bad - lamb rack and roast veggies (carrot, beetroot etc). I'm still demolishing the fruit/seed/nut mix but finding it really good to keep the energy levels up given I've been on my feet and running around all day & night for 3 days.

This morning I went out for a 7.5k run which makes it 20k's for the 3 days I've been here. Super happy with that. I then had an omelet (tomato & mushroom) and then doubled up with another poached egg, mushrooms & tomato, followed by a plate of fruit. Talk about craving the calories. If I had a bottle of olive oil I would have had a swig of that too! lol

I'm flying back tonight and have a can of sardines, fruit/seed mix, apple & banana ready for later. It's nearly lunchtime so I will go hunting shortly.

Day 152 - the plane was late so I didn't get back in until nearly 11:30pm. But here it is just after 6am - bing! wide awake and prepping for another big day. I found a Japanese place for lunch yesterday - mince with ginger & onions, no rice. Not exactly balanced but it did taste delicious. Then I scoffed the sardines plus a salad at the airport lounge, much to my colleagues disgust and amusement. They hoed into gin & tonics and red wine while I slurped down a couple of delicious soda waters with fresh lemon. Guess who feels better this morning? :) Then it was home and a late supper of pork & potato. Four days done and dusted without missing a beat. Woohoo!!

Today will be crazy catchups, back to back meetings and appointments, and then a trip to the coast for some much needed sleep and fun.

I'm expecting to deconstruct enough food today to feed a small country town plus outlying properties. Everyone has been notified to leave baskets on their front steps so I don't have to annoy them lol.

Day 153 - 30 days until the end of my 6 month Whole journey. Not that I'm going back to eating sugar, grain, beans and dairy with alcohol. No Way!! :)

As predicted, I destroyed copious amounts of food yesterday - a plate of leftovers for breakfast, massive salad, chicken & sweet potato for lunch, and grain free sausages, potatoes & cabbage salad for dinner. Plus lots of nut/seed/dried fruit mix.

Today will be surf, walking and tennis and a healthy dose of lazing around on the lounge not giving two hoots about anything much at all :D

Day 154 - 5 months of Whole 30!!

My mantra of "Keep it simple, keep it whole, keep it sustainable" has driven my journey. I would add to that: "Keep engaged". Continue to log your progress and engage with other like-minded people who can share their journey and knowledge with you. I have learned something about myself from my each of the people I have communicated with. You are all awesome! Thank you for helping change my life :)

Day 155 - big weekend of great food and exercise. Long session of tennis on Saturday - I was running around like a 18 year old. Brilliant! 4k run yesterday at my fastest pace yet. Couple of swims (no surf) and I've had a great weekend.

Stir-fry brekkie yesterday then just fruit/seed/nuts mix then a big dinner of marinated roast chicken, warm potato salad and roast bok choy. Leftovers for lunch today.

Travelling again on Wednesday - I'll attempt to do the same thing as last week - up early, run & swim before the conference starts (7:45am each day so it might be a stretch).

Day 156 - great stir-fry for breakfast, leftover chicken+potatoes and salad for lunch, and a fish curry with bok choy & broccoli for dinner. Getting a bit stressed about my trip this week - I'm not organised for a presentation I'm now giving. I'm sure it will work out but I'm not keen on last minute freak-outs.

Today is Melbourne Cup Day, the horse "race that stops the nation". I'm heading out to the local track as a guest - should be a hoot. I'll dress up to the nines and swan around with my flute of sparkling mineral water lol.

Day  157 - struggling with tiredness over the last couple of days. Today I'm headed off to Melbourne and then 2 hours on a bus to Lorne near where I grew up. It will be great to see the place again, but I'm not looking forward to four days of a conference. I'm still not organised so that's causing me grief.

Food yesterday was a green bowl at my favourite cafe, leftover fish curry for lunch, and steak, potatoes, piperki and salad for dinner. I think I needed the potatoes and olive oil - feeling better this morning.

Day 158-159 - man this conference thing is hard. 11 hour days, then having to socialise and eat with colleagues. Yesterday is a blur - scrambled eggs (medium), mushrooms, tomato, fruit. Vaguely ok. Lunch? salad, something something, chicken. Dinner - "Hawaiian theme"... Uh huh - meat, fish, salad, veggies. Potatoes.

"Can I have a soda water please?" "Wha??" ..... Sigh. I did the white ninja at 9:30pm (slunk off into the shadows without anyone noticing) after getting sick of everyone's wine breath.

Today? Same breakfast (eggs were sloppy, yuk), lunch - chicken, salad and now I've had a can of tuna (spraying oil on my trousers in my desperate attempt to get the tin open as quickly as possible). Fruit.

Tonight is something else somewhere. I'll white ninja it again.

Highlights? A run the past two mornings along the picturesque and spectacular Great Ocean Road. 5k's yesterday and 6.5k's this morning.

Day 160-162 - survived the conference, back Saturday night and a day off yesterday. Highlight on the last day of the conference was a 3.5k run at 6am followed by an hour of touch football at a "team building" event. Haven't been able to walk since. lol Old man knees man! :)

Meanwhile the food sitch has been good - airline club salad and nuts on the way back, good feed when I got home, yesterday was breakfast out and then a great bbq plus salads etc for late lunch. A few bits and pieces for a late supper. I could do with more rest but you get that. I think I managed about 16 hours sleep over 3 nights at the conference, not optimal, but typical of my patterns when I'm travelling.

Hoping to get back on the running road this afternoon after a rest day yesterday.

Many thanks for the support J and MeadowLily - it means a lot!! :)

Day 163 - 20 days to go on my 6 month Whole journey. Veggie stir-fry for brekkie (finally!) - I've been missing that a lot. Tuna and salad for lunch, seed/nut/fruit mix, banana, apple. Dinner was no-grain sausages with piperki, cabbage salad and potatoes fried in coconut oil. Absolutely delicious.

I'm still really tired from my travels and spent most of yesterday trying to get organised, both at work and personally. No exercise - my left knee hasn't been able to support much weight (going up stairs for instance) since the touch football the other morning. Definitely getting better but it needs a rest.

Day 164 - stir-fry packed with veggies + eggs for breakfast. For lunch I seriously only had 10 mins so decided to load my salad up with a punnet of blueberries and a kiwi fruit + a can of tuna. Looked crazy but tasted spectacularly good. It's a New Thing! :)

Dinner was a chicken stir-fry on cauliflower rice which was delish. Some nuts, seeds and dried fruit. No exercise, the left knee still isn't playing nicely.

Dropped in on some old friends (and drinking buddies) last night - they sat there chugging away on their alcohol while I drank soda water. It was lovely to see them but it didn't make me feel like a drink at all. I'm happy to be clean and healthy. Win!! :)

Day 165 - had a mixed up leftovers breakfast with some eggs yesterday followed by a coconut chicken salad and then a mix of meats and salads. I put an old pair of jeans on to go out last night and had to take them off because they were far too big. Ah the joys of Whole30 living! :)

Day 166 - quick veggie stir-fry for breakfast, a noodle-less Vietnamese pho for lunch, and chicken_sweet potato_salad for dinner followed by a trip to watch the Socceroos vs Kyrgyzstan where I had hot chips wafted in front of my nose. They smelled good but looked absolutely awful. Dave 1, Chips 0.

(BTW, we won the football 3-0)! :D

Day 167-168 - complete rest day yesterday - headed down the coast Friday night. It was cool and rainy so a great day to build a fire (even though it's nearly Summer) and stay indoors. I cooked a stew of beef, potatoes, tomatoes, onions etc and had that with brocollini and grilled peppers with garlic + olive oil. Delish. Lunch was a few grazing bits and pieces and breakfast a plate of eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms.

Hoping to get out for a surf today.

Day 169 - back in Canberra after working around the place at the coast yesterday. Cooked cevapis for lunch with salad and last night had some veal leftovers with salad. Breakfast was a veggie & egg concoction. I had a quick swim yesterday but other than that haven't done any exercise because of my knee which is slowly getting better. Hoping to do a walk (at least) today.

Day 172 - it must be the relentless drive to Christmas - the madness has set in, everyone is wanting something to be completed or started by the end of the year. Everyone needs a holiday (summer in Australia is bliss and everyone gets to Christmas and then winds down in their head until the end of January!), and the tensions are rising.

Me? Meh! I just keep the calm stillness around me as best I can, let everyone else freak out, soothe where I can. Eat clean, live clean.

Food over the past few days has been positive - plenty of veggies, good oils, meats, nothing special. Probably had more fruit than usual - apples and nectarines mainly.

The knee is still healing - I did try to run a couple of days ago but decided to give it further rest. I'll see how I go on the weekend - that will be two weeks since I injured it being the superhumanhero18yearold in a 52 year old body :)

Day 173 - goodness me, only 10 days until the end of my Whole6 (months) - body shape has seriously changed although I've got chunky bits :) Chest, tummy and kidney areas are still lumpy bumpy whereas the rest of my body is a lean mean fighting machine :D Guess I'll just push on with another 6 months. What? Oh it's a lifestyle you say? Sweeeet!
