Frozenrozie2
I just shredded my crock pot chicken I waited 6 hours to finish cooking. Basically, butternut squash, heirloom carrots, fresh tarragon, chicken, a bit of ghee and waaay too much lemon! Is there any way to fix this?? Thanks so much! Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted January 13, 2016 Moderators Share Posted January 13, 2016 I just googled what to do when something is too lemony and found out that you can use baking soda...apparently it cuts the acidity but doesn't impart it's own flavor. Also, you could scoop out some of the too lemony sauce and add in more ghee... Google is your friend in these cases
Frozenrozie2
SugarcubeOD- thank you! This is the second time you helped me. I googled too but didn't think baking soda was compliant. Really appreciate! Have a great night!
praxisproject
If you're not sure you can check the package. Baking soda is usually plain, however baking powder can have a lot of additives. Lemon is also an acid, so some extra fat will tone it down too (just like in mayo), or add more tarragon
Frozenrozie2
For some reason I ended up throwing in a little coconut milk. It actually worked and tasted pretty good. Bizarre, who knew?
Administrators ladyshanny Posted January 14, 2016 Administrators Share Posted January 14, 2016 For some reason I ended up throwing in a little coconut milk. It actually worked and tasted pretty good. Bizarre, who knew? Oh, yum! Fat would soften the acidity, for sure! You reminded me that I have a recipe of stewed spinach and chickpeas (obv not compliant) in a coconut milk and lemon "broth" that was delightful! I should find that and just chuck out the chickpeas!
