Tracy R.
I have one going now. We love beef brisket here. It's the first time I've ever made it in the crockpot though. Anybody else cook theirs that way? I'll post how it turned out after we eat tonight.
homerfrizzell
Sure do. I usually braise it on the low setting for eight hours or so.
Susan W
What do you guys braise it with? The usual? Beef stock, carrots, onions, celery or something more unique?
Tracy R.
I'm cooking mine w/o adding liquid. I only added 2 T of apple cider vinegar. I made pork ribs the other day like that and they made so much liquid themselves. They were fall off the bone tender and so yummy! I made them for carnitas. I pulled off chunks and did a quick fry in coconut oil. I used this recipe as a starting point. I changed up the seasonings some. http://www.cdkitchen...sket55556.shtml I added cumin, oregano and a bay leaf and a little chili powder, extra garlic powder and used smoked paprika. I put in 2 TBLS of apple cider vinegar too. Edited to add I put sliced onion in the bottom with the bay leaf.
homerfrizzell
Yes, you don't have to add much liquid. I'll usually use whatever broth I have left from the last thing I cooked, adding in some onions, garlic, salt and pepper.
Susan W
Yum on both accounts. Thanks guys.
jhmomi
Sounds good. I cooked pork roast last week and added no liquid either. It was so good, even with no seasoning. Just juicy and tender meat. Eating big hunks of meat daily is the best part about being a Cave Girl!
Tracy R.
The crockpot beef brisket was good, but not as good as when I make it in the oven. I'm not doing it in the crockpot again. The texture was different. My husband said it seemed like any other roast I'd do in the crockpot. Not what I wanted to hear for a $25 chunk of meat! The leftovers should be good though. I always make them into vaca frita.
