proud3boymama
Going to my nieces birthday party tonight and it's my first meal dining out. I am on day 10 and feel pretty good about going here. In my mind I can do a bowl with protein and veggies and skip any sauces. Just curious if there is anything hidden at Mongolian BBQ that I may have not thought of? I do plan to ask if they could use olive oil for cooking my food. Thanks!
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted January 26, 2017 Moderators Share Posted January 26, 2017 I'm not sure if they marinate any of the meats, you might double check that.
Frank1203
My bigger concern would be if the meat is processed. All of the mong bbq joints I've been to use the same type of sliced frozen meat that comes in a rectangle and they break it up. My guess is that this 'product' probably has fillers, etc.... Worldismyoyster
I would suspect sugar in the marinade and sauces, so ask
JulieP757
And find out what kind of oil they use on the grill.
Worldismyoyster
^^^ yes, quite likely peanut because of the high smoking point
jillybeargirl
If you go to Hu Hot you add your own oil... I think the only thing the cooks there add is Water... Hu Hot also has Garlic Water, Ginger Water, Lime Juice, etc... so there are a few things you should be able to add at that chain.
Frank1203
This has been my experience with Mong BBQ also, they only add water. The oils should be in the containers with the other liquids you can add to your veg/meat before you hand it over to cook. I've been to Mong BBQ in different cities in different states and they've all worked this way.
