jason_b
I've been prescribed high strength vitamin D supplements as I have a very low vitamin D count. The only tablet options I can find on prescription include some questionable ingredients, but I think I'll have to go with the least nasty of what's availabe, as I really need the vitamin D and over the counter lower strength capsules haven't done much to raise my levels. Which would you says is the better out of these ingredient lists (I've only listed the questionable stuff)? 1) Corn oil, sunflower seed oil and vegetarian capsule shell. 2) Microcrystalline cellulose, acacia gum, sucrose, starch, medium chain triglycerides, magnesium stearate 3) Maize oil, refined, butylated hydroxytoluene, gelatin, glycerol, chlorophyllin copper complex sodium Thanks! Administrators ladyshanny Posted April 26, 2018 Administrators Share Posted April 26, 2018 I'd go with the second one but doctor's orders trump all Whole30 so you could take whichever one you wanted.
jason_b
I just looked up Microcrystalline Cellulose and it sounds pretty nasty! I'm thinking about going back to the doctor and finding out if some of the over the counter options are ok, as I've found a few more options there. Tricky! laura_juggles
Assuming you're eating vegetables, you are consuming cellulose (which microcrystalline cellulose is also known as). It's the main component of plant cell walls.
jason_b
Oh right! It's described as 'wood pulp' on some websites. In any case it only seems to be the one article touting it as dangerous. Option 2 looks the best I think.
jason_b
I've found this which looks great – https://betteryou.com/dlux3000 Ingredients: "Xylitol, water, acacia gum, cholecalciferol (vitamin D3), sunflower lecithin, citric acid, preservative: potassium sorbate, peppermint oil." That's pretty close to compliant, right?
