Ari.
Such as cayenne, crushed red peppers etc. I'd imagine they aren't very kind to a healing digestive tract. But I love them! Thoughts?
Moderators LadyM Posted April 15, 2013 Moderators Share Posted April 15, 2013 Not sure what W30 has to say about this, but according to Ayurvedic medicine, they're aggravating for people who are Pitta, and they are, indeed, heat inducing. Ayurveda (and elimination diet folks) also says that sometimes the things we love most (when we're imbalanced) are the things we most need to reduce! Moderators Tom Denham Posted April 15, 2013 Moderators Share Posted April 15, 2013 Most people do not experience meaningful inflammation from peppers, so they are included in an ordinary Whole30 diet. If you are sensitive and do not experience good results from an ordinary Whole30, the next step to consider is following the autoimmune protocol described in It Starts WIth Food. The AIP involves eliminating additional foods including peppers and the spices made from peppers. PS: I used a lot of crushed red pepper flakes and chili powder when I did my original Whole30. Most foods I cooked were hot and I still had a great experience. Nowadays I use less heat, but not because of inflammation, just taste.
