  1. You may  not want to hear this but you are absolutely not eating enough and if this is the way you've been eating since you started, it's not really that surprising that you feel bad.

    Eggs when they are your sole source of protein should be as many as you can hold in your hand without dropping... most people that's 3 or 4.  When you're eating bacon as the protein, that's actually considered fat for the purpose of the program so those days you don't have any significant protein in your meal 1.

    Your lunch has no fat in it. What do you consider a 'portion' of proteins? The meal template recommends 1-2 palm sized servings of protein at each meal.

    Your evening meal/snack again has no protein and it sounds like maybe you don't even eat your full lunch if you're using 'remnants' of it for your evening snack?

    Why can you not eat three meals a day?  Are you salting your food? Drinking 1/2oz of water per pound that you weigh?  Are you working out?

     

  2. It will definitely have some sort of sweetener in it, so it would be technically against the rules of Whole30.  Would a patch work for you? Chewing gum, whether it's compatible or not (there are none) gives your digestive system a cue that food is incoming and it revs up all the digestive juices. This can create hunger, gas, cravings etc.

  3. In order to know, you have to consider the recipe against the rules of the program. First check the ingredients - if there are any ingredients that are not compatible with the program, then you either need to substitute them or switch recipes.  Second, make sure the recipe isn't going against the Pancake Rule or the No Recreating Baked goods rule... so no 'ice cream' regardless of the ingredients, no 'home made crackers', no 'noodles' that are not just a veg cut into a noodle shape.  Once you've checked both those things, then you'll know if the recipe is actually Whole30 compatible or not.  It's good to start a practice of reading through a recipe like this, even if you know it's from a reputable source - then it becomes second nature to do a quick scan and determine for yourself if it's good to go.

    Your brain actually needs sodium to function. it's why there's sodium in gatorades and other sports drinks that are used to prevent dehydration.  When you're eating a whole food diet like Whole30, you are generally cutting out most packaged and processed foods which contain high levels of sodium, which is why for people eating a standard American diet, they're encouraged to not use added salt or to select low sodium options.  In the case of Whole30, we end up having to salt our food to get enough sodium because of our lack of eating these processed foods.

Sure, if that works for you.  I would say if you had very significant side effects of reintroduction the first day, you may want to not eat it the second day but if you feel fine, go for it.  You don't have to go back to Whole30 for longer afterward unless you don't feel good... maybe dairy doesn't bother you at all so a day back on the plan gets you feeling back to where you were on Day 30... that's okay, there's no defined time between reintroduction items, just that you eat compatible with the program again until you get back to that day 30 magic.

    Check out this article about what to expect on the program (many people vary but it's a good guide). I would think you're probably just in the detox/hangover phase.

    Can you send a link or a screen shot to where it says that something with dextrose is Whole30 compatible?  I can't find any under their Whole30 approved section that are incompatible - they do have recipes that have incompatible ingredients in them for other eating programs which would be incompatible with the program. I can't find the cream of broccoli soup that you mention.

    I've given a heads up to HQ about this as well but in the meantime, if you're able to provide a bit more info, that will help them in quickly getting anything resolved that needs to be resolved

  8. YES!  This is awesome! Whole30 is what really encouraged me to become a great cook (not a chef or even an 'at home chef'... definitely not).

    Guilt and remorse need not apply! Just because you're changing your way of eating doesn't mean you have to suffer with bland or yucky... that's from the old diet mentality and we don't do that there! So happy for you!

    Yes, often times changes in our diets lead to changes in hormones which can lead to irregularity of our cycles.  There are LOADS of discussion in this Ladies Only forum about this - if you're worried, obviously go to the doctor or do a pregnancy test but it's quite likely that this is from the change in your diet.

    There's a lot of hormone changes that can go on when you remove inflammatory foods and other disruptors from your system and those changes to your hormones can start quite quickly.  You can google 'whole30 changes in hormones' and you should get some results on the forum and if I recall there's an article or two about it but things should level out as you go.

    Have you read through the 11 pages of this thread?  Spotting and cramps and even breakthrough bleeding are a common side effect of hormonal changes in women.  Not sure about the nose bleed tho... is it especially dry where you are?  I know it's killer allergy season so maybe that has something to do with it.

    Yep!  People try and capitalize on a successful program - anything that seems 'too good to be true' probably is.  Especially things that don't fit the template like this bowl or things you'd really have to bend to fit the template :)

    Yes, it's basically the banana egg pancakes smashed up into a scramble but topped with all the same stuff as the pancakes so it would be a no.

    This would not be a good choice for your whole30.  It's extremely fruit heavy, one egg is not nearly enough (as eggs when they are your sole source of protein are as many as you can hold in one hand without dropping) and it has no veggies.

  15. Go to the doctor!  Seriously, an ongoing headache like this is not a normal symptom of eating meat, veggies and fat and if you already have comorbid conditions, it's really in your best interest to see a doctor to make sure it's nothing serious.

    The one thing I"ll ask is if you're salting your meals and drinking 1/2 oz of water per pound of body weight... are you eating starchy carbs?

    If you would like to give us a run down of what you've been eating with specifics such as meal times, portion sizes, specific veggies, fruit, fat and protein then we can have a look and see if anything stands out but we cannot dispense anything resembling medical advice and this may very well not be related to food.

    Salting as pre-whole30 is often not enough because there is a LOT of sodium in processed and packaged foods so if that was any part of your diet before and now it's not, you might not be getting enough salt... it's an essential component to the body... we recommend salting to taste on every plate.

    I'm going to take a wild guess that you didn't eat enough yesterday... As you can see from reading through this thread, we recommend pregnant and breastfeeding moms eat four meals a day and snack on fats (olives, coconut milk) throughout the day.  Did you do this?  Are you eating to the high end of the template?  Please provide additional information so that we can help.
