Jorogers
I haven't seen much on toothpastes but is using toothpaste with xyitol a problem? Is toothpaste in general something someone on whole30 should worry about? Toothpaste is not swallowed but the digestion process does start in the mouth with absorbtion. I am going to start whole30 on Feb 1 and want to do my best. I have a host of issues as to why I am doing this especially asthma and allergies. Let me know if I am being too picky. There is alot riding on this for me.
Moderators SugarcubeOD Posted January 27, 2016 Moderators Share Posted January 27, 2016 This is okay as long as you're not eating it. However... it is possible to find excellent toothpastes without these sweeteners... Green Beaver is my fave!
Administrators ladyshanny Posted January 27, 2016 Administrators Share Posted January 27, 2016 Xylitol in toothpaste is pretty good for dental health. It helps keep a neutral pH, prevents bacteria from adhering to tooth surfaces and some studies have shown it can help repair enamel.
praxisproject
If you have a dog, you may want to keep xylitol out of your house, it's quite toxic to dogs and it's sneaking into a lot of products now, including nut butters.
