Babsie95
I am having the strangest craving for pickled beets....not something I would normally want. I haven't been able to find a recipe without sugar. Does anyone know of any?
doreau
This won't satisfy your craving for today, but google "fermented beets". There are a ton of recipes, none using sugar, and when done you'll also have that dose of probiotics
laura_juggles
Maybe you're looking for the vinegar/brine? Could try having some pickles and see if that helps
Moderators Tom Denham Posted September 9, 2016 Moderators Share Posted September 9, 2016 I sometimes soak canned beets in apple cider vinegar for several days to make my own pickled beets. Lots of canned beets include sugar too, but the Publix brand is just beets, salt, and water. I assume there is something similar in other stores. ChristyJ
I've bought some at our grocery store (Hannaford-found in NY and the New England area). If I'm there tomorrow I'll try to find them again and write down the brand. Many have sugar. I got a salad with beets, and it wasn't until I got the salad that I realized they were pickled beets-pickled with vinegar & sugar! No thank you.
